Our Vision
Beagle in Mind is an educational trust focused on understanding before intervention. We support guardians with insight and guidance around behaviours that are commonly misunderstood, helping strengthen the relationship between Beagles and the humans who care for them.
Our long-term hope is to see fewer Beagles, and dogs in general, entering the rescue system due to behaviour that could be better understood with the right support.

Working Together for Beagles in Need
Advice, Guidance, Tips, FosteringAt Beagle in Mind, our primary aim is to help keep Beagles from entering — or re-entering — the rescue system.
We do this by supporting guardians, adopters, and rescue organisations with thoughtful guidance grounded in experience, understanding, and relationship. Since 2013, we have fostered, cared for, and worked with close to 4 000 Beagles, alongside being Beagle guardians ourselves since 2006. This experience has shaped an approach that prioritises context, compassion, and clarity over quick fixes. Our work focuses on understanding the relationship between Beagles and the humans who love them. We don’t look at behaviour in isolation — we look at the whole picture. Beagles thrive on connection, trust, and understanding long before techniques or instruction can be effective. Our guidance is offered without judgement and may include behavioural as well as holistic considerations, always tailored to the individual Beagle and situation. When it comes to health, our input is based on experience and research and does not replace conventional veterinary care. We are also supported by a canine nutrition specialist for questions related to health and nutrition. If you’d like to get in touch, please email: [email protected] |
Rescue, Adoptions, SurrenderingBeagle in Mind works closely alongside Grace Animal Sanctuary, and together we formed BRAG (Beagle Rehoming and Assessments with Grace) — a dedicated division focused on responsible Beagle rehoming and assessments.
Through this collaboration, BRAG later took Beagle Welfare South Africa under its wings and now operates as Beagle Welfare trading as BRAG. While Beagle in Mind and BRAG function as two separate NPOs, we work in close collaboration, sharing experience, values, and a deep commitment to the wellbeing of Beagles. This partnership allows each organisation to focus on its strengths while remaining closely aligned in purpose and care. Through BRAG, we assist with matching Beagles surrendered in South Africa with suitable homes. We also work alongside animal welfare organisations nationwide to help ensure that Beagles are placed thoughtfully and responsibly. If you are a rescue organisation outside of the Western Cape and receive adoption applications from within the Western Cape, we kindly ask that you consider contacting BRAG before transporting dogs across the country. Local assessment and placement can often lead to better long-term outcomes for both Beagles and adopters.
